The collection consists of receipts, returns, accounts, contractors' certificates, and letters relating to the Division's activities around Sandusky, Ohio during the War of 1812, and a record book of Ensign Church, a Unites States contractor.

 Abstract:  Isaac Mills (1767-1843) was an agent for the Sufferers' Land Company (also known as the Connecticut Firelands Company) who concluded a treaty with the Indians of the Northeast for the purchase of half a million acres of land at Fort Industry, Ohio in 1805. The collection consists of a copy book of correspondence concerning Mills' Western Reserve land dealings, his work as agent for others, and lawsuits involving Mills or his clients. Correspondents include Heman Ely, Timothy Hawley, Turhand Kirtland, Jared Kirtland, and James Monroe. Also included are miscellaneous documents such as an act setting up the Sufferers' Land Company (1803) and Mills' report to the company directors on the conclusion of the treaty with the Indians (1805).

 Abstract:  Joseph Gaspard Chaussegros De Lery (1721-1797) was a Canadian engineer. The collection consists of journals, 1749-1858, in French and English, kept by De Lery on visits to Detroit and Carillon (Quebec) and to a council of the Five Nations, and accounts of the captures of Fort Bull and Fort Oswego and progress on the fortification of Quebec. Also, correspondence, 1906-1908, between Charles W. Burrow, A.E. Gosselin, Webb C. Hayes, John T. Mack, and Reuben G. Thwaites, and newspaper clippings, relating to the De Lery journals and Sandoski (Sandusky) forts.

 Abstract:  Ethelinda Griswold Rice Free, daughter of Joseph and Juliet Boalt Rice of Ohio, spent most of her life gathering materials related to her family's history. She was descended from prominent families in the Western Reserve and New England. The collection consists of correspondence between members of the Free, Rice, Hulburt, Boalt and Griswold families, diaries, journals, financial and legal materials, genealogical materials, memorabilia, published and unpublished writings, newspaper clippings and materials from relatives in the Butler, Caldwell, Fisk, Hall, Hubbard, Lane, Moss and Warner families.
